While writing the peom there where a few but not many challenges I faced the biggest being what direction and feel I wanted the poem to have. This also coincided with how much I wanted to share. I wanted to share a little bit of of who I was on the surface but also delve deeper. Just enough to get a better understanding of who I am but not as far as having to explain ten minute long stories to go along. For the most part, I quite enjoyed the prompt because it allowed me to be creative and challenege myself.
The four things that were talked about in the text pertaining to the writing process were the structure of the story, the interviewing process, recording and editing. The text explained how to put together that was concise and attention grabbing. It also explained how to go about the interview process and touched on what kind of questions to ask and how. It also touched on some of the recording and editing's technical side explaining a few points on how to use the equipment and such.

Part 1 - In chapter 4, Keep or Kill: Story Structure there were a lot of larger ideas talked about. One of them being how to take what they called several unconnected anecdotes and forming them into the story you want to convey. One interesting thing that stood out to me in the chapter was the bit about chronological order. Usually stories are told in a chronological order but you the start of your story doesn't necessarily have to be the beginning. Another idea it talked about was taste specifically your own personal taste and how to use it so convey a attention grabbing story. A point made was making sure you have interesting taste. Another important part that stood out in the chapter was the idea of creating building blocks to form good stories.
Part 2 - The framing of how the final outcome of the interview will be was heavily influence by the chapter. Since this interview was unscripted, it is important that the video has noticeable markers for what is the beginning middle and end of the a scene. The interview covered a wide range of topics in which were discussed so putting them together will be a challenge.

Sound is metaphorized as the "Deep Sea" in Chapter 4 because sound can convey a meaning or feeling that can't always be seen visually. There are different depths and layers to sound producing more than what is just on the surface. In other words, it lets you see beyond what is just on the surface. In terms of our videos, while on the surface they may be emotional, sound can add another layer of emotion that may have not been as present as before.

An edit is "session" if you will when a producer reads a draft of a script or story to a group of people and they critique it there kind of like what we did when we shared our first drafts of our videos. The primary purpose of the edit is to perfect your work. To find solutions to the problems in your peace you did not even realize where there. The chapter details two important concepts in storytelling: framing and signposting. Signposting is almost like flag mark showing people whats going on and what is important. Framing is taking the concept of your film which may be hard for many to understand (like the example of the film on epigenetic's in the chapter) and connecting it to something that would be universally understood.

I had two outside viewers watch the video and give feed back. Our group established a few main themes to base the video on and both viewers said they clearly understood them because of the text but said the transitions could have been better so that the themes didn't seem as disconnected. Both viewers agreed most of the video was captivating but there were some parts that seemed repetitive or dragged on longer than necessary. The feedback received helps my group out tremendously because we were having trouble figuring out where to cut footage and with the feedback we now know where.

Oral history to me is a collection of stories (not written) pertaining or time lining someones life or perspective of an event. Thinking of oral history as a co-constructed process of narrative composition can described as the relaying the original piece by more than one person or speaker. To "map coherence" onto the "disorder of lived experience" is trying to piece together a puzzle that at some points doesn't always have a definite shape. Oral history obviously is not written.
I think this project really helps with the whole concept of multimodal composition because it uses various modes like both audial, visual, etc. and is unlike any composition many people have seen. It shows more so how to combine different modes in a way that is fluid. The project also changes the way I look at writing for public audiences because it uses techniques that keeps the audience reeled in. Everyone has different tastes, opinions, ways of thinking and the project allowed you to decide what kind of information they wanted to learn about next. What in her grandmothers life interested them and allowed you to learn about it next by using the interactive work technique. This project helps you understand better what it takes to properly relay someones story.

From what I understood, the purpose of the article was to try to understand and define "texts that utilizes multiple media and multiple modes" and delve into the idea that there could be different ways of calling "texts that utilize multiple media and modes. The article uses several multi modal techniques to get the purpose across as well as time line like form. She took you step but step in the process she went about to finding the answer to the question or concept of the article. I also found it both interesting and helpful when she explained her use of the rose metaphor in the article. Using the line from Shakespear's Romeo and Juliet helped better explain the purpose in showing that what we call something doesn't mean that it is what your calling it. That maybe what we call something, like a rose was one a seed planted which grew.
A section I found particularly interest in was Cynthia Selfe's audio segment named, "Tactical, Situated, Local". I found it interesting how she said digital media and print media are relative to one another but not the same. It shows how digital media has propelled the writing world into another level. Another section I found very interesting was Cheryl Ball's, "No Need for Consistency" audio segment. What I found most interesting was that she believed that there doesn't have to be a set definition as to what new media is. She welcomes the way others define new media to better her undestanding and her own definition.

Starting from the beginning, one of the contributions I made besides our collective work on drafting interview questions and what now was me giving the interview. Another major contribution I made was doing moots the putting together of the video and editing. What displeases me about some of the video is some of the footage we had. Unfortunately while recording the video, it went unnoticed that we weren't actually recording so we missed a lot of really great and essential footage that I think would have really added to the video. Because of this lost footage, we had to find other footage to use and it was hard to do so because the footage we had to use didn't co-encide with what was going on in the video. The end also displeases me slightly because I wish it would have ended on a happier more hopeful note but unfortunately we didn't have any footage that correlated with the ending in such a way.
Giving what I know now, I would have definitely made sure we were using the camera correctly from the start. I would also maybe try and get some better closing remarks from Ma Mary.

1. One of the things that I noticed while reviewing some of the other final reflections that I found interesting and might like to emulate is the way that some of the arguments were presented. If found it a little difficult when trying to effectivly present my arguments in a way that would be understandable to multiple different viewers and getting insight on how others presented their argument helped immensely.
2. Moving forward, what I really have to focus on is concluding my final reflection and making sure it all ties together. This is something I always struggle. The addition of my multimodal components here I think will definitely help in tying together my conclusion with the entirety of the reflection.
